Give Me a Clue
04:23
|
|
||
i find it frustrating
that i can't help and i can't relate
when you're giving me scraps to work with
i cannot do my job
i can't be there when you leave your phone on the bedroom floor
buzzing and buzzing away
oh, give me a clue
you're making me sick
when there's nothing to do
[x2]
i need help distinguishing
my brand new missions from old suspicions
but you're not helping when you're ignoring me all day
my base diminishing
the more i fix things the more my habits are following
by staying exactly the same
we meet only to find
i have brought the wrong ammunition to fight
and i'm stuck without defense
and your words are getting more intense
and i know that we've ignored
that we have covered this exact ground before
so tell me
what ground do we have left to stand on?
oh, give me a clue
you're making me sick
when there's nothing to do
[x4]

my progress is a funny thing
is this a challenge, or is it suffering?
you call me out, but you wouldn't know
then you quit while you're ahead
so you suffer until you're dead
and by sticking to your guns
you are cancelling all your fun
whoa oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh
quit while you're ahead
whoa oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh
suffer until you forget
your numbing actions are so pitiful
is it the pain or the common sense that's so hurtful?
you call her out, then do it yourself
then you quit while you're ahead (ooh, and as a result you will)
so you suffer until you're dead
and by sticking to your guns
you are cancelling all your fun
whoa oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh
quit while you're ahead
whoa oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh
suffer until benefit
whoa oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh
quit while you're ahead
whoa oh oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh
see you when you forget

The Ghoul
04:52
|
|
||
a fool, and a poetic fool at that
he gave himself a heart attack
angels reciprocate his mood
but they're too into their moves to know
a fool, and a romantic fool at that
the heart on sleeve sewn on his back
he'd make an appropriate target
if he'd just go to the market some more
a fake, and an unknowing fake at that
can't get his will straight with his facts
and he is falling on his face
but he is liking the taste of dirt
the ghoul holds his own
he is alone but he is normal that way
a fool outside his home
he is alone but he is happy
a beast, an unremarkable beast at that
all his grand schemes are falling flat
only the color of his skin
and all the blood flowing in make him so
a kid, and an older kid at that
dead before he's on his back
he's a slave to his word
this is getting absurdly so
the ghoul holds his own
he is alone but he is normal that way
a fool outside his home
he is alone but he is happy
he doesn't know what he is doing
he is walking with nowhere to go
a zombie spoke to him calmly
and told him fondly that this is your own
he's no fool, he's a ghoul
he's no fool, he's a ghoul

It's Too Late
04:25
|
|
||
it's too late, you can't pitch us a new sale
the words that you used and the things you have meant
have hammered down the nail
we are bruised, your apologies have gone stale
i'm so confused with your baffling excuse
that you've bored me off your trail
quit making it worse with all these things you've rehearsed
and just admit that you have failed
throw out everyone who's lied to you and you are left with no one
having any fun depends on who's defined as everyone
you're afraid it's too late
you're afraid that you've forgotten how to forget
i'm simply marking my tracks and remembering names
just so i won't have to feel regret
and so if you want to end this cause and effect
stand up for yourself and reflect from your shame
and don't say anything about it
then you'll be a new man and you're set on your plan
to make the same mistakes again
throw out everyone who's lied to you and you are left with no one
having any fun depends on who's defined as everyone
you're afraid it's too late
you're afraid it's too late
it's too late
it's too late
it's too late

Sine-Like
04:23
|
|
||
your life is like a waveform
with peaks and valleys and timbres that clip
and the clipping disrupts and it's not going to stop
but you stay sine-like
flowing and sweet
you stay sine-like
pretty and clean
i feel for you and all you have to do
you take in white noise and compress it through
but poetry can't forcibly repay what is due
i'm writing this to oscillate
that my frequencies have not been great
but no matter what i throw at you
i love you
because you stay sine-like
flowing and sweet
you stay sine-like
pretty and clean

This Endearment of Mine
04:46
|
|
||
pick a fight with any little thing that you please
from a word problem to a disease
i'm so weak when you're speaking to me
and all your boys will do anything to please
take it to the highest height that stupid can be
run and tell everyone that you hate me
somehow wishing your response would reach me
and you're gathering gapes and selecting stares
you're pushing your looks and needing repair
you've shifted your gears from your name to your face
how you bother me with such grace
this endearment of mine just can't be erased
after all the things i've said and you've put me through
we let this cycle run because you're so cute
all these cracks in the boards in the bridge of our accord
all these unresolving chords, left alone getting bored
and i just can't afford to keep telling myself
that this all isn't
adding up to one great big lie
but i'll buy into it as long as i can try
is this all about you or is it just me?
have we agreed to a conspiracy?
can my heart or my eyes better see?
am i hurting myself compassionately?
this endearment of mine is all i can be

Dig Me Up

efforts from the present in two days become the past
what i'm feeling right now isn't what from this is sure to last
basically i'm never here, looking backwards with a glass
an artist's take on what came up here is picture framed and bent and crass
dig me up, all my stuff
uproot tufts of callous pride and calling bluff
juggling love is like a cave, i'm seeing shadows that still cast
on walls i didn't think i'd saved and parts that are still such a blast
feeding slack and full-on jumping into holes so hard from to come back
with rope and axe i am spelunking, i can see the single track
dig me up, all my stuff
uproot tufts of callous pride and calling bluff
dig me up, all my stuff
filled my cup with confidence i've had enough
